Stagecoach Foundation, Inc., in partnership with Santa Fe Community College’s (SFCC) Film Department, is now accepting applications for its free Production Assistant Training for Film and Television program. This hands-on training is designed for New Mexico residents interested in breaking into the film and television industry. Sessions will take place across three weekends, starting May 17 and concluding on June 1, at the SFCC campus, located at 6401 Richards Avenue in Santa Fe.
Participants in this intensive program will earn their OSHA 10 safety certification. Upon completing one-on-one résumé and interview coaching, graduates will be presented as candidates to productions for hire through the PA Production Incentive Program. Class sizes are limited, so early application is encouraged.
The film industry in New Mexico continues to expand, creating an increasing demand for trained production assistants. “If you are interested in a career in the film and television industry, this is the best place to begin,” said Milton C. Riess, SFCC Film Department Chair.
The training program is structured across multiple weekends, with each intensive led by industry professionals focusing on essential skills for Production Assistants. Topics covered include set safety, film production basics, walkie-talkie communication, lockups, set etiquette, call sheets, and résumé building. The final weekend emphasizes set safety training with OSHA 10 certification, followed by personalized résumé and interview coaching.
